Their bodies are graves for their hearts

Allaah the Mighty and Majestic says:

﴿ إنَّ اللهَ يُسْمِعُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَمَا أَنْتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَنْ فِى الْقُبُورِ ﴾

Indeed, Allaah causes to hear whom He wills, and you, [O Muhammad], cannot make those in the graves hear. Faatir 35: 22

Imam Ibnu Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

He (Allaah) likened those who do not respond to His Messenger ﷺ to the people of the graves, and this is one of the best similes. For their bodies are graves for their hearts; their hearts have died and are buried in their bodies."
